I was raised in the small town of Lake Cowichan, BC on Vancouver Island – our families roots going back almost 90 years – and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Looking back at the days when I was a kid growing up I took a passion for cooking at a young age watching my mom cook almost daily. Saturdays where special, those where the days she let me join in and help, even letting me create my own dish. The first creation was a bread pan she gave me at the age of 5 in 1972 which I took out to the yard, filled with mud, ran back to the kitchen where she let me mix in some of her spices she had just ground and freshly made that day. When it was all mixed she then let me put it alongside her pot roast (every Saturday was pot roast) in the oven. From that moment on I knew what it was that I wanted to do and the passion and love it gave me to create and make people happy though food.
